All stages

The same path as a list: every stage with its videos, in order.

In Spanish · English subtitles

  1. 1. Terminal

This stage is in the works.

  2. 2. Git

    Version control for your code

    1. What is Git? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

What Git is and what it's for: git init, the commit as a snapshot of your project, going back to any version and how it merges a team's work. And why GitHub isn't Git.

  3. 3. Infrastructure

This stage is in the works.

  4. 4. Containers

This stage is in the works.

  5. 5. Kubernetes

Orchestrating containers: pods, Deployments and Services

    1. What is Kubernetes? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

What problem Kubernetes solves, the two parts of a cluster (control plane and nodes) and why it fixes itself: it keeps comparing what you asked for with what is running.

    2. What is a pod? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

What a pod is, what its containers share and what happens when one crashes. Plus why you almost never create a pod on its own: it won't come back, scale or keep history.

    3. What is a Deployment? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

How a Deployment looks after your app: its ReplicaSet replaces dead pods, you scale by changing one number and you update with a rolling update, with rollback if it fails.

    4. What are StatefulSet and DaemonSet? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

When a Deployment isn't enough: a StatefulSet gives each pod a fixed name, its own disk and ordered startup; a DaemonSet runs one pod on every node in the cluster.

    5. What is a Service? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

How to reach pods whose IPs keep changing: a Service gives you a stable IP and name, finds pods by their labels and spreads the traffic. Plus ClusterIP, NodePort and LoadBalancer.

    6. What is a ConfigMap? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

How to give your app its configuration without baking it into the image: a ConfigMap as environment variables or as a file, and why sometimes you change it and nothing happens.

    7. What is a Secret? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

How to store passwords, tokens and certificates in Kubernetes: the Secret types (Opaque, TLS and registry credentials), why base64 is not encryption and what actually protects it.

  6. 6. CI/CD

This stage is in the works.

  7. 7. Infrastructure as code

Your infrastructure written as code, with Terraform

    1. What is Terraform? (Watch on YouTube, (opens in a new tab))

What Terraform is and why you always read the plan before the apply: the state, which changes happen in place and which replace the resource, manual changes and import.

  8. 8. Cloud

This stage is in the works.
